Hazelnut Chocolate Brownies

Now, I’m not going to lie to you, I’m not the biggest fan of chocolate, never have been, I know – madness right? but unfortunately with the exception of small amounts of dark or white chocolate it gives me migraines. (anyone getting out the world’s smallest violin out for me yet? No..ok.)

That being said, I live with 3 chocoholics. They are cocoa mad addicts, I’m telling you. I sneak chocolate into my house like I’m running a Mexican drug cartel as I could swear they can smell it on my person. So to satiate their needs I make the occasional confectionary, so here is the recipe for one of them.

  • 100g Flour
  • 200g Caster Sugar
  • 175g Melted Chocolate
  • 25g Cocoa Powder
  • 150g Butter
  • 175g Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Eggs
  • 100g Chopped, Roasted, Hazelnuts
  • Chocolate sauce (optional)
  • Handful of Hazelnuts for topping (also optional, but highly recommended 😂)

Preheat oven to 180 degrees celcius

In a large mixing bowl mix together; melted butter and sugar and vanilla extract, add beaten eggs and whisk until frothy.

Stir in melted chocolate until thick and glossy.

Fold in the flour, salt and cocoa powder until fully combined.

Fold in your nuts and chocolate chips.

Spread into a greased and parchment lined 9×9 inch tin or whatever you have that’s close enough.

Bake for 15-20 minutes and leave to cool in the tin for at least 20 minutes.. Slice with an oiled knife and see if you can make them last more than an 30 minutes…because that’s about how long they last in my house! Enjoy.

Oiling the knife = 100% less faffing about, please excuse the sound of moaning child in the video too, he was getting super impatient having to wait for brownies!
